District Guidelines

HOSA events focus on preparing Future Health Professionals.
Please use the links below to access the available HOSA calendar.

 

Guidelines

HOSA GUIDELINES – 2019-2020 CHANGES.

  • 1. DUES:
    ●  Region - $10.00
    ●  State - $15.00
    ●  National - $10.00
  • 2. SUPER Chapters:
    ●  All schools will be registered online as one big chapter number.
    ●  The one single chapter number was already given to each school by
    National HOSA. If you are a new school, then you will need to
    contact National HOSA for the number.
  • 3. ONLINE Registration:
    See deadlines in the calendar.

    ●  Registration will be online for Region VII.
    ●  Region VII Competitive Events. (Please follow guidelines when
    registering students.) Schools MUST send a copy of the roster to their
    Regional Advisor as well as to the District: Magaly Parets
    ●  State Conference – list of students and advisors participating from
    the online registration with State.
    ●  National Conference – list of students and advisors participating from
    the online registration with National.
  • 4. DEADLINES:
    Please adhere to deadlines according to the calendar for
    REGION VII.

    ●  CAMP KULAQUA -LDC transportation form – October 19
    ●  Region VII Registration
    Dues – November 9
    ●  Proctors’ Name registration
    (send a copy to Regional Advisor)
    November 13
    ●  State & National Dues
    (Due at State: Lloyd) – December 08
    ●  Transportation information to competitive events – January 11
    ●  Leadership conference: Awards
    (Breakfast payment) – January 17
    ●  State Conference transportation
    form – February 22
    ●  All Dues and Fees
    (registration and breakfast)
    must be taken to William H. Turner to the attention of Ms. Magaly Parets, Curriculum Support Specialist on the given date.
    School checks made payable to:
    North Miami Senior – HOSA Trust.
    No personal checks, money orders or cash will be accepted – NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE – ONLY SCHOOLS CHECKS.

    Leadership Conferences: No money will be accepted at the breakfast. If we have not received your school payment on or before the deadlines, your students will not be able to attend the leadership conference. No extra seating will be available other than the ones reserved for those who paid by the deadline. No Exceptions.

    Competitive Evens: Students and Advisors must be Regional, State & National members in order to be able to compete.
  • 5. CAPING:
    ●  Please adhere to the registration limits attached at the end of these
    guidelines. You should not have teams or students registered online
    with a number greater than 8.
    ●  There is no limit for any competitive event that is a test or has a round one test.
    ●  There is no limit for Special Needs Students. These are the competitive events marked with an asterisk. Remember you must have paperwork to show the student has special needs.
  • ● *Personal Care
    ● *Life Support Skills
    ● *Interviewing Skills
    ● *Speaking Skills
    ●  There is no limit on any event for Middle School HOSA Members **.
  • 7. TESTING:
    The same as last year, all students will be given the written exam in ALL events
    that have written portion INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING:
    ●  Parliamentary Procedure
    ●  Medical Reading
    ●  Creative Problem Solving
    ●  Epidemiology

    DO NOT bring students who are competing on Outstanding HOSA Chapter or HOSA Happenings. Advisors will bring the students’ work to Regional competition.
  • 8. STATE Conference Leadership
    ●  As before, the District will provide transportation for students and
    advisors going to states.
    ●  Hotel room must be shared with another instructor.
    ●  Only ONE courtesy corps per school are allowed to attend.
  • 9. NATIONAL Conference Leadership
    Transportation for advisors and students will be paid by the District. Registration for teachers will be paid ahead (no reimbursement for hotel or meals will be done). First place winner’s registration will be paid from HOSA Region VII trust account.
